The Story of the Bottlebutt Bash Trail Run
The Bottlebutt Bash Trail Run was created from a simple idea: to share the trails we love. After years of running and racing through this region with Coastal Track and Trail Runners, we knew these forests were too special to keep to ourselves. The Bottlebutt Bash Trail Run invites runners of all abilities to experience this magical landscape, offering four distances designed for every level of trail enthusiast.
A Course Steeped in Natural Wonder
A Course Steeped in Natural Wonder
The signature Bottlebutt Bash is a 21.1km journey through the enchanting Burrawan State Forest. The course winds along stunning singletrack, forest roads, and hidden pockets of bushland—each turn revealing something new. One of the true highlights is the legendary Old Bottlebutt tree.
Meet Old Bottlebutt
Standing proudly in the heart of the forest, Old Bottlebutt is a magnificent Red Bloodwood (Corymbia gummifera) estimated to be more than 200 years old. Its distinctive flared base spans over 16 metres in girth, making it one of the most unique trees in Australia. A 600‑metre loop walking track begins and ends at the Burrawan picnic area, offering visitors a peaceful place to pause, listen, and take in the sounds of nature.
